The NIU Shack concept
We launched the project in Raiatea, the cradle of Polynesian civilization.
We live off-grid in the ancestral valley of Tepuhapa (meaning "place of gathering" or
"refuge" in Tahitian), using solar energy, river water and cultivating our own "fa’apu.
For Vicky, this new beginning is a "return to her roots," seeking to reclaim the peaceful
life her parents led in this valley. For Eva, it is a true refuge for rejuvenation and reconnection with her culture.
Aware of the unsustainable nature of modern consumption, we aim to inspire people to adopt a healthier lifestyle, in harmony with nature. Our mission is to protect our planet for future generations. We are particularly sensitive to the impact of consumer society on our beautiful islands: plastic pollution affecting our lagoons and beaches, the use of pesticides degrading our soils, and the influx of processed foods crowding our kitchens.
NIU Shack embodies our vision of a "niu" lifestyle that allows us to consume the resources of our environment more wisely.
